Sporting Achievements - Career's Week
November 2024
On Thursday 7th, Miss Jones attended the British Franchise Association’s HSBC UK British Franchise Awards as a finalist for the Next Generation Award. And we proud to announce, that she WON. The Next Generation Award is for franchisees under 30, who have established a profitable franchise although they may not come from a business background.
Miss Jones provides the Onside sport's coaching at Clifton Upon Dunsmore and here is what she had to say to our parents and children to mark our 'Career's Week' in our first term back (2024/2025):
When I started my franchise journey, I had a vision to grow a sport’s coaching business to help children learn skills they could use throughout their lives. I truly believed that Onside could make an impact to the local community. 6 years on, I have accomplished and grown my vision and beliefs more than I ever thought was possible.
This award is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and determination of every single person on my team. From sports coaches and wraparound practitioners to part time holiday staff and everyone in between, their contributions are invaluable.
A huge thank you to you, our schools, parents and carers, who give us the highest honour of trusting us with your children.
As I look to the future, I am incredibly excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. We’re committed to continuing to innovate, to grow and to make a positive impact on as many young people’s lives as possible.
Sports Day 8th July 2024
Summer is here and the school year is quickly drawing to an end, which meant one thing - sports day was here!
Sports day is a time when pupils take part in lots of fun events, including egg and spoon races, obstacle races, and so much more.
It is an opportunity to have fun with friends and there are usually lots of chances to get your hands on a medal or prize in the process. We always, encourage children to pick their favourite sports day event, and remember it's the fun of taking part that matters, you don't always have to win to enjoy yourself.
Sprinting –KS1/KS2
This is where there is a need for speed.
There are no obstacles in your way, no team to rely on, this is all you.
Egg and spoon race – KS1
Nothing says sports day like balancing eggs on spoons.
Now before you ask, you cannot use your thumb to hold the egg, that is definitely cheating. KS1 had to learn this the hard way!
Obstacle race
What makes running even harder, putting fences up that you have to jump over, of course! Enjoyed by all!
The results were amazing too! with yellow house winning with just 2 points over green house.
Well done Yellow House!!!
KS1 - Morning | KS2 - Morning | Results afternoon | Final scores |

Our Clifton pupils have excelled in sports competitions this year!
At the start of the year, children in Years 5 and 6 had training (Move It) preparing them to be active ambassadors. They went on through the year encouraging and inspiring others to be active in and out of school! Most of the children from this group participated in boys and girls football, swimming gala, cross-country tournaments and the primary athletics competitions.

Sports Day 2023 #TEAM# Together Everyone Achieves More
Monday 10th July was an active day, as we held our annual Sports Day. We had very lucky weather, with the rain coming right at the end of the day! All children, across all teams, got to take part in a variety of sporting activities; ranging from high jump, standing long jump, javelin, archery to obstacle races and sprints.
It was a fantastic day, with the children performing brilliantly.
They displayed determination, perseverance and a great amount of effort.
The results were as follows:
Overall results:
Well done to Yellow House, who managed a clean sweep of the winning trophy!
Thank you to all the staff (and Onside) who helped, the parents for attending and children for performing to the best of their ability. The school would also like to thank our Year 6 helpers (house captains and active ambassadors, for scoring the events throughout the day even as they were participating!
Teams were awarded points on where they finished the races (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd and 1 for participating. Each teams total was then combined with the rest of their houses score to form an overall total.
PE Sporting Achievements 2022-2023
Some of our pupils have excelled in sports competitions recently!
We had a small group from Year 3 and 4 who represented the school brilliantly at the Tag Rugby tournament at Newbold Rugby Club on Monday 28th November in the autumn term.
They went on again in the early in the spring term to give another strong show of teamwork and camaraderie in the Rugby Festival, winning some games in the four rounds.
Level 2 School Games Virtual Infant Agility Competition.
Last term Year 2 and Year 1 enjoyed participating in the Virtual Infant Agility Competition, which is an event run as an intra-school competition. The whole class participated and the top 10 scorers (top 5 boys’ and top 5 girls’ scores) were taken and submitted as a team entry
Events included Standing Long Jump (Jumper); Bean Bag targets (Pitcher); Running (Runner); Speed bounce (bouncer); Agility Run (Stepper); Chest Throw (Thrower).
Swimming Gala
Well done to all our Year 5 and 6 swimmers for competing in the swimming gala.
They were all-brilliant and showed excellent teamwork and skill. Congratulations!
Rugby Primary Schools Cross Country Championships
Record numbers of children have taken part, with around 200 for each event, an amazing turnout despite the weather with heavy downpour; it was down to the fantastic support from schools, parents, Onside Coaching, Rugby & Northampton Athletics Club and Gwil Price, who has set up every course.
We are very proud of the Clifton children in Year 5 and Year 6 who represented our school at this competition. Robert, Rory, Bella and Bobbie all gave an outstanding performance in the heats.
With the finals on Saturday 25th of March, we wished Bella and Robert all the best!
Bella and Robert went on to do an amazing job, and giving it their very best at the Cross Country Finals
Girls Football Message
We want girls to play football!
It is time to take a stand, to make a difference.
Girls are an unstoppable force for good if given the chance.
The chance to play football.
They want to play in the school curriculum, at break time, after school, at local clubs – wherever, whenever they want. No barriers, no stereotypes. Let Girls Play.
We cannot achieve this on our own though! We would not be able to do this without the support of Barclays and their passion for equal access, and now we need you too!
So, at Clifton we will joined in at playtime and PE lessons
#Let Girls Play
