Let's Celebrate Reading!
Our school is committed to nurturing a love of reading among our students and this academic year we have exciting news to share with you.
Did you know that if a child reads for fifteen minutes every day, they will make progress above the national expected level of achievement. This positive impact is not only on their reading skills, but also on their other subject areas and on their future success.
To promote the development of this reading habit, I have some exciting news to share. Children in Reception, Year One and our fantastic group sessions who using Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised are given raffle tickets for demonstrating determination, making excellent progress, and displaying a good attitude. At the end of each half term there is a draw and the lucky winner from each class or group gets to keep their favourite Little Wandle book.
I am pleased to announce that children who are using Accelerated Reader will also now be rewarded for their achievements and reaching their challenging targets. There will be a chance for them to win a £5.00 book voucher.
Our first draw will be on the last Friday of this half term and I look forward to announcing the winners.
Let's all get reading!
